Hi, I am Jilian Metzner, the artist behind J.M. Pottery. From the moment I touched clay, I fell in love with the process. By no means a natural, I have spent countless hours at the wheel, watching youtube videos, and failing over and over again and loving every minute of it. When I am working in the studio my mind focuses on the task at hand, I feel the clay in my hands, and I feel that rare satisfaction of being truly present and in the moment. It is my creative outlet, my escape, and my moment of “me time”.

When not playing with clay, I am a middle school English teacher and a mom. While I don’t have much, any free time I have is consumed by playing with clay.

I create all of my pieces by hand in my backyard pottery shed, often with our golden retriever, Rocky, at my feet. There is nothing quite like holding a handmade ceramic piece. I look forward to sharing my creations with you!
